Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..."
Matthew 19:14
The purpose of RGBC’s Children’s Ministry is to glorify God by aiding parents in the Christian training of their children. We strive to do this by equipping families with the knowledge of Scripture and doctrine.
RGBC is committed to instructing our children in the faith that we hold so dear. They are taught from the earliest years that God has made them, that God has a plan for their lives, that God deserves their praise and worship, and that God gave His only Son Jesus to save them from their sins. We teach our children the great events of the Bible that show them who God is and how much they need God’s love and forgiveness. Our children are encouraged to pray, to sing songs of praise, to memorize Scripture, to memorize The New City Catechism, to learn the Books of the Bible, and to use their Bibles. We teach our children that no matter what age, they are to honor God and obey Him, not just on Sunday but all during the week.
Sunday School — We have Sunday School for all ages. Our children’s Sunday School class follows a curriculum that systematically goes through the entire Bible over a 3-year period. Bible instruction is reinforced with activity pages and question/answer games. The class ends with a circle prayer where each child is encouraged to thank God for at least one blessing.
Children’s Church — Children are encouraged to worship alongside their families; however, acknowledging that sermons may be too difficult for them to fully understand, a Children’s Church is provided for children in 2nd grade and under during the sermon time. Those teaching Children’s Church use teaching materials that either reinforce their Sunday School lesson or other Bible-based lessons of their choice. Children’s Church also utilizes audio/visual aids and crafts to supplement the lesson.
Wednesday Bible Class — During the adult Bible Study and Prayer Meeting, the children have a Bible class that takes them through the entire Bible in one year. The group begins together and then splits into an older and a younger class to do the workbook activities. Crafts, games, and snacks are implemented used as time allows.
