Meet our Pastor, Van Loomis

Van grew up near Mobile, AL.  In 1988, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served 10 years in the Intelligence field working at places such as the National Security Agency (NSA).  In 1990, he married April.  Though he attended a Bible-believing church all his life, Van came to know the Lord as his Savior in 1990 at the age of 20 and was baptized in the Pacific Ocean while stationed on the island of Guam.  April and Van have three children, Krystina Starr (21), Jenna (19), and Christian (6).

In 1997, Van was honorably discharged from the Navy.  He began his theological studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (with Languages).  In the same year, he was called as pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church in Conway, SC.  In 2003, he was called as pastor of New Home Baptist Church in Citronelle, AL.  In 2005, Van was called to be the pastor of Redeeming Grace Baptist Church in Mathews, VA where he currently serves.  In 2010, the Master of Theology in Systematic Theology degree was conferred upon Van by the University of South Africa (UNISA).
